As the pandemic exerted a vice-like grip on the citizens of America and ruined their normal lives, it was left to the federal administration to come up with support measures right from the initial days when the virus first crossed over into the nation from China.

Initially, it was the federal administration and their stimulus check, which climaxed with the three rounds of stimulus check. The third stimulus check under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 was signed by President Biden and proved to be the last federal stimulus check.

With relief payments drying up in 2022, it was for the states to get into the act and support residents even as inflation reached a 40-year high across the country. The latest to join the bandwagon is New Orleans, which has proposed stimulus checks for its youths.

New Orleans Stimulus Check Program For Youths

Under the state stimulus program of New Orleans, youths will get a regular stimulus check worth $350. The main objective of this relief check is to empower the youths of the state and boost their financial stability.

This should help them stay connected with their education and school program. This is also expected to reduce stress among students and the youth community and strengthen them financially.

Major LaToya Cantrell noted that the program was started to allow youths to get unrestricted, much-needed money in people’s pockets.  The state administration decided that they needed it the most.

Under this program, the administration selected 125 youths between 16 and 24 years old. These youths are not students nor have they found jobs. This program is under the guaranteed income scheme of the Mayors, a %500,000 grant supported by Jack Dorsey of Twitter.

Eligible recipients will be paid through a prepaid card provided by a finance company, MoCaFi, that is committed to bridging the wealth gap for Latinx, Blacks, and other communities disconnected from the mainstream economy.
