The first win of 2020 for the Phillies was possible due to the exceptional pitching of Zack Wheeler and the two powerful hitters Phil Gosselin and J.T Realmuto.
Wheeler pitched seven innings of one-run ball, the solo homer of Gregorius, Gosselin’s two homers and Realmuto’s three run drive all resulted in the 7-1 win over the Miami Marlins at Citizens Bank Park.
Phil Gosselin, the team’s designated hitter played the first multihomer game of his career. He swatted two home runs to give the Phillies a six-run lead over the Miami Marlins.
The game had Zack Wheelers smashing debut as he allowed five hits and struck out four over seven innings. He pitched a 97 miles/hour fastball in the seventh inning for a strikeout which was his 87th and final pitch of the day.
Although the Phillies started the game with a slow offense, their defense was very good. Overall it was an interesting game and they deserved their win.
In a 60 games season with each game super magnified, the Phillies can not allow having a long leash with Velasquez. He must fix his role quickly because Spencer Howard already is waiting for the right opportunity.
