Iam Tongi, who was born in Hawaii but has Tongan and Samoan ancestry, won the 21st season of the competition after impressing the judges and the TV viewers with his rendition of Spawnbreezie’s “Don’t Let Go.” Iam Tongi also dazzled the judges with his performance of “Making Memories of Us,” a song that he confessed is a favorite of his parents.
