‘American Idol’ has been won by Iam Tongi. During a star-studded finale on ABC, the 18-year-old singer defeated Megan Danielle and Colin Stough, the runners-up, to claim the coveted trophy. Iam Tongi, who was born in Hawaii but has Tongan and Samoan ancestry, won the 21st season of the competition after impressing the judges and the TV viewers with his rendition of Spawnbreezie’s “Don’t Let Go.” Iam Tongi also dazzled the judges with his performance of “Making Memories of Us,” a song that he confessed is a favorite of his parents.

The judges gave the performance a standing ovation, and Katy Perry could be seen visibly touched by the song. 

I don’t think what I say matters, she remarked. The high school kid received appreciation from Lionel Richie as well, who acknowledged that he was filled with emotion.

“You are an incredible storyteller,” said Iam Tongi. I hate to say it, but I’m sitting here crying over a song I already know, even if you have a fantastic delivery, just like Katy. James Blunt joined Iam on stage, and the two of them sang the song “Monsters” together.

During his ‘American Idol’ audition, the adolescent sang the song, dedicating it to his late father Rodney. Iam’s mother Lillie reflected on the touching performance and stated, “This is what Rodney dreamt of. 

I believe he was intended to be here because he wanted people to hear whatever Iam had to say. Iam was crowned the winner of this year’s “American Idol” before Megan and Colin, according to Ryan Seacrest.

Kylie, 54, performed “Padam Padam,” a brand-new song from her upcoming album “Tension.”
