Right-wing extremist Ammon Bundy is in the running for the gubernatorial post from Idaho. He is at present serving a ban from the State Capitol Building after protesting at the premises a year back. He was also involved in an armed standoff in 2016 at the Malheur National Park in Oregon.

He was charged with resisting arrest and trespassing. Later he declined to put on a mask at the Statehouse and missed a trial date.

He protested vociferously against wearing masks during the pandemic and was arrested and later released. The 45-year old conservative has also participated in efforts to recall Governor Brad Little over his pandemic restrictions.

Ammon Bundy’s In The Race: Confirms Idaho Secretary Of State

The office of the Idaho Secretary of State confirmed the news and said that Mr. Ammon Bundy has filed a paper to run as a Republican in 2022. He has said that he is sick of the political situation. He said that he was tired of the corruption and the loss of freedom.

Ammon Bundy has said that this was an opportunity to uphold the rights of the people and the principles of prosperity and liberty.

Ammon Bundy is against Lieutenant governor Janice McGeachin. She has been vocal in her opposition to Governor Little, also a Republican, over his handling of the pandemic.

But his efforts to run for the Governor’s seat were hit when it was revealed that he was not a voter in the state. He will have to refile either after registering to vote or with another voter acting as treasurer.

Ammon Bundy will be up against 4 other Republicans. No Democrat has entered the race so far. March 1, 2022, is the last date to file the necessary paperwork. He has pleaded not guilty in one of his two cases and is yet to enter a plea in his second case.
