James Cameron, the director whose $237 mn budget for the original Avatar movie, said last month in an interview with GQ that perhaps the sequel’s cost was extremely high to produce.

In addition, Cameron, 68, claimed he informed 20th Century Studio that now the movie had the very worst business proposition in film history and that it needed to become the 3rd- or 4th highest grossing movie ever made in order to “break even.”

The director confided in Entertainment Weekly in Dec 2021 that he was concerned that the next films wouldn’t be capable to equal the popularity of Avatar due to the condition of moviegoing during and after the epidemic.

Cameron made a virtual appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in Apr 2021, when he discussed the pressure of directing the eagerly awaited sequels to the enormous sci-fi blockbuster from 2009, which is presently the most successful movie of all time.
