Amazon and other delivery companies are very worried that their workers might get infected with the Novel Coronavirus. So, they have a lot of pressure trying to protect their workers.
Some employees at the US food delivery company have walked out, besides Italian and American workers at amazon complaining of inappropriate protection
The companies stated that they are taking extra measures as the orders are now more due to the lockdown amid the coronavirus outbreak.
“We are going to great lengths to keep the buildings extremely clean and help employees practice important precautions such as social distancing and other measures”, an Amazon spokesman said in a statement.
“Those who don’t want to work are welcome to use the paid and unpaid time off options and we support them in doing so”.
Amazon stated that it fixed the practices as they increased cleaning their places introducing fixed shifts and break times.
Amazon in Italy also stated that it decreased the delivery orders since 22 march, however, managers say that employees need more protection
“Several employees working at the site use face masks for days instead of having new ones each day,” one union representative told Reuters.
