Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester City have reportedly almost reached an agreement regarding the move. The move will be a sensational return of a former Premier League superstar, albeit to a club that directly rivals his former alum.

Business As Usual For Cristiano Ronaldo

ESPN’s sources have claimed that Pep Guardiola, the boss of Manchester City, and Cristiano Ronaldo had a chat over the phone. This was reported to have happened on Thursday. The player is all set to depart from his current Italian club, Juventus.

However, there are quite a few things standing in the way before Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer can be completed. The first and foremost among them is the fee demanded by Juventus. However, sources claimed, that the people involved are cautiously optimistic about the deal happening.

In all likelihood, Juventus would ask for about €28Mn to let Cristiano Ronaldo leave. However, the club’s management has also been keen to drop the massive wage burden of Ronaldo, who is now 36.

From the player’s side, Cristiano Ronaldo along with his team has told officials of Juventus that the player no longer wants to stay in the club, effective immediately. As a result, he will not be available for selection for the match against Empoli that is scheduled for the coming Saturday.

In June, ESPN had claimed that the representatives of the player were studying interest for him from the top clubs of Europe. Even back then rumors were rife that Ronaldo will be seeking a move in the summer transfer window.

Manchester City was not too keen on the transfer when Ronaldo’s camp had first approached them. However, on Wednesday, their top target Harry Kane confirmed that he will be a Tottenham Hotspur player for at least one more season. Following that, the deal now looks to be almost confirmed.
