The French electronic music duo made the announcement through an enigmatic video. The name of the video is “Epilogue.” The two musicians, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter can be seen in the video. It is set in a desert. They are in their signature robot costumes.
They say their goodbyes to each other, and then something very unfortunate happens. One of the musicians then goes for self-destruction. The publicist of Daft Punk who has been so for a long time too confirmed the information to a news channel.
The duo was formed in the year 1993 in the city of light, Paris. They are responsible for bringing out the typical French scene of the underground house into the limelight. They did so with tracks like “Da Funk” and “One More Time”, which became a global hit.
The debut album of Daft Punk was “Homework.” It has earned the title of being a dance music landmark. Their song, “Get Lucky” featuring the American singer, Pharrell Williams, and the American musician, Nile Rogers, went on to become a hit, worldwide. It happened in the year 2013. It was a retro single. The track was a part of their album, Random Access Memories. This album was chosen as the “Album Of The Year” at the 2014 Grammy awards.
After this, Daft Punk has kept a laid-back profile. It was only in the year 2016 that they made the collaboration with the popstar, The Weekend. It was the two songs; “I feel it coming” and “Starboy.”
