Damian Lillard, on Friday, spoke to the reporters just hours after an online report which indicated that Lillard wanted to request his team for a trade. Once he spoke to the reporters, there were sighs of relief within the auditorium.
Damian Lillard denied the claims of the reports and said that it was not true. He added to that saying that the last time he spoke to the press, there were things spoken about which had nothing to do with him. That being said, Lillard does not have decisive plans for his future and wants nobody to speak on his behalf. He reiterates, saying that he would be his own representative and speak to the team if there is a need to be addressed. However, this is not the case, and there is actually a tiff between Damian Lillard and the management of the Blazers.
Damian Lillard’s Expectations From The Trail Blazers
Damian Lillard does not want to be traded and wants to remain in Portland. However, he does want the team to show more effort and build a team that is capable of winning the Championship. According to Lillard, a change in the coaching would not suffice. He says that the Blazers have always been the team he would like to win all the trophies for. But, there has to be reciprocation from the team itself.
The claims put in by Damian Lillard are valid because the defense of the Blazers was truly dreadful in the previous season. It is not a team that can progress on to become champions with the change of just a coach. Of course, a coach makes a significant difference, but the team’s potential is not up to the mark. Lillard believes that the Blazers are capable of winning, which is strengthened by the fact that the team made it to the playoffs in all the seasons till now. Furthermore, the city and the fans also make a great environment. It is just the mindset.
