Australian driver, Daniel Ricciardo, has recently joined the Formula One AlphaTauri team. Daniel Ricciardo was signed as the third driver for Red Bull Racing for the 2023 season of F1. However, on 11th July, Tuesday evening, he was loaned to AlphaTauri by Red Bull for the rest of the 2023 season for F1.

It came as a surprise to one and all that Nyck de Vries was removed as the driver of AlphaTauri right prior to the Hungarian Grand Prix that is scheduled to take place next week. This announcement was made on Tuesday and soon Daniel Ricciardo was seen doing a test drive in the AlphaTauri car on the Silverstone track.

De Vries Replaced By Daniel Ricciardo Before The Hungarian GP

Daniel Ricciardo had been driving for Red Bull from 2014 to 2018. He also successfully managed to win 7 races just after 2 initial seasons for Toro Rosso which was a sister team to RB from 2012 to 2013. He was signed as the reserve driver by RB for the 2023 season.

Before getting signed by RB, Daniel Ricciardo was driving for McLaren where he was replaced by Oscar Piastri.

Ricciardo’s Return Opens Possible Driver Replacements

De Vries failed to impress the AlphaTauri team and has been consistently sitting at the last standings for drivers.

Franz Tost gave an official statement that he is thrilled with Daniel Ricciardo and has welcomed him to the team. He further added that Ricciardo has proven his skills as a F1 driver and his integration is going to be simple and effective. Tost further thanked de Vries for his contribution to the team of AlphaTauri and wishes him the very best for his future.

Ricciardo’s seat at AlphaTauri opens up possibilities for drivers’ changes throughout the F1 garage.
