Daryl Mitchell will be remembered by the Kiwi fans for a long time. It was his bat that carried the kiwis through to the finals of the World T20. New Zealand had been in its prime form lately. They have been powering through their opponents in most of the ICC events lately. Under the able captaincy of Kane Williamson, the team has performed like a champion unit.

The kiwis have now reached the finals of three major ICC world events. They faced off against mighty England in the semifinals. Critics have already tagged the Englishmen as the favorites. Eoin Morgan and the boys were looking set for yet another world title. However, Daryl Mitchell had other ideas. Playing in his debut world cup, Mitchell played a blinder. Let us cherish his innings and analyze the kiwis’ memorable journey to the finals.

Daryl Mitchell Stars In New Zealand Victory

Daryl Mitchell was the star of the show in the semis for New Zealand. He played according to the situation and saw his team through. England was hands down the better team on paper. Despite losing out on Jason Roy due to injury, Morgan’s boys looked formidable. Put in to bat first, England scored a fighting 166. This was quite a good total by the standards of the Abu Dhabi pitches.

New Zealanders started in the most horrific way possible. Chris Woakes ran through the top order. He scalped Martin Guptill & Kane Williamson cheaply. The innings were steadied by Devon Conway and Daryl Mitchell. However, Liam Livingstone struck again to peg back the kiwis.

Daryl Mitchell and Jimmy Neesham exploded in the last few overs. They scored a whopping 57 runs off the final four overs to shock the Englishmen. New Zealand will face the winner between Australia & Pakistan in the finals.
