The Republicans of the House of the United States of America have selected a Representative for New York, Elise Stefanik. The House Republicans opted for her as the No. 3 leaders on 14th May, Friday who will be replacing Liz Cheney.
Elise Stefanik is a loyalist and staunch defender of former US President, Donald Trump. She is soon going to replace Cheney of Wyoming amid the battle inside the party regarding the role of the ex-President in the molding of the future.
Liz Cheney Replaced By Elise Stefanik
Elise Stefanik is 36 years of age and won her position as the GOP leader with 134-46 votes. This meeting was behind closed doors among the members of the GOP House after the last-minute issue over Chip Roy of Texas. Roy represented only a fraction of the Republicans who considered Elise Stefanik not as conservative to deserve the Conference chair.
Stefanik had joined Kevin McCarthy, Republican leader, along with other leading officials after the delivery of the votes. She also gave a speech regarding the unified goals of the party in opposing the agenda of Joe Biden. He also mentioned taking a stand against the House majority to retake in the election of 2022.
Stefanik stated that her focus will mainly be on building unity for the American people. She also thanked Trump, who remains an important part of their party, for all his support. She also mentioned that according to her, Trump is the ideal leader for the country.
Trump played a huge role in the ousting and replacing of Cheney by Stefanik. This is mainly because Trump released several harsh statements against Cheney and praised Stefanik. Eventually, Cheney was dumped for Stefanik for the 3rd House GOP chair.
