The Past President of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernández, was transferred to America where he will face the charges of possession of firearms and drug trafficking. The Justice Department of the U.S. meanwhile has revealed an indictment that accuses him to be connected with a plan to profit and protect some smugglers. The job of these smugglers was to move cocaine from South and Central America into some places in the U.S.
Juan Orlando Hernández Is Charged With Drug Trafficking And Possession Of Weapons
The charges against Juan Orlando Hernández are a conspiracy of importation of drugs, carrying dangerous weapons like machine guns and others, and planning to have such weapons. As per the indictment, he has throughout misused his rank and position from the year 2014 to 2022. In the views of Merrick Garland, the Attorney General of the U.S., with the help of his rank, he was making the country a narco-state.
However, he denied all such allegations. He was also transferred from the prison of special police forces to Tegucigalpa airbase with more than 12 officers. In the media, he was shown wearing blue jeans and a jacket with a lot of security.
Meanwhile, Ana Garcia, the wife of the accused shared a video on Twitter regarding Donald Trump. As per Juan Orlando Hernández, the truth will be out eventually and he has his and family members’ prayers on his side along with many other families of Honduras. He claimed o be innocent and stated that he has been treated unfairly by the system.
In a video, he stated that he worked very hard to bring peace to the country and it is quite unfortunate that the same people who tried to destroy the country are now preparing to be heroes. The extradition order was passed the previous month by the Supreme Court of Honduras. He was arrested from his house on 15th February.
