A Florida man was arrested on November 20, 2024, after the FBI uncovered a chilling plot to bomb the New York Stock Exchange. Harun Abdul-Malik Yener, 30, of Coral Springs, Florida, faces charges of attempting to use an explosive device to damage a building used in interstate commerce. The FBI’s investigation into Yener began earlier this year, after a tip led agents to discover bomb-making schematics and materials in his storage unit.

A Dangerous Plot Uncovered

Yener’s arrest followed months of investigation, including the discovery of timers, circuit boards, and other bomb-making components. Since 2017, he had searched online for bomb-making information, and undercover FBI agents reported that Yener had expressed his intent to detonate the bomb in the week before Thanksgiving, targeting the iconic stock exchange in Lower Manhattan. His arrest prevented what could have been a catastrophic attack.

Yener appeared in court on Wednesday, where he was detained pending trial. The FBI’s swift action has been credited with averting a potential disaster, underscoring the ongoing vigilance required to protect the nation’s vital institutions. As the investigation continues, authorities are focusing on the extent of Yener’s planning and whether he acted alone.
