The reward for information that could lead to the hooded person responsible for placing a couple of bombs in Washington D.C. is now $500,000 on the night before the riots on January 6, 2021. The reward is jointly being offered by the FBI, the Metropolitan Police Dept. of Washington, DC, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

The pipe bombs were placed near the Democratic National Committee and the Republican National Committee headquarters in Washington DC. The increase in the amount to half-a-million dollars represents a sharp spike in the administration’s willingness to pay for any information that could lead to the person responsible for placing the bombs.

The FBI announcement comes two days before the second anniversary of the attack by mobs organized and instigated by Trump. They descended on the Capitol and created mayhem.

The person is seen wearing a sweatshirt with the hood pulled up, Air Max Speed Turf shoes that sported a Nike logo in yellow, gloves, and a backpack. He can be seen walking through the alleyways of Capitol Hill carrying the two pipe bombs.

The hooded person placed the bomb the night before the attack at around 7:30 P.M. Though the bombs placed outside the headquarters did not explode, they caused considerable panic among people and troubled local and federal law enforcement officials.

Some components used in the twin devices included galvanized pipes, kitchen timers, end caps, metal clips, wires, and black powder. The FBI said that the person placed the bombs in an alley behind the Republican National Committee headquarters at First Street Southeast, and the other next to a park bench near the Democratic National Committee headquarters at South Capitol Street. Former FBI assistant director Steven D’Antuono said that the bombs were viable devices that would have gone off and caused serious damage.
