Ja Morant, point guard, Grizzlies star, left the court area of the Barclays Center in a wheelchair on the night of Monday after he sprained the left ankle during the 2nd quarter of the overtime 116-111 win of Memphis against the Nets. X-ray report of the ankle of Morant has shown no fracture and he will have to get an MRI if possible by Tuesday.
Taylor Jenkins, the Grizzlies coach didn’t give any official update on the status of Morant but said that he will be thoroughly evaluated and an update will come into the picture from Boston by Tuesday, where the Celtics will play the Grizzlies on Wednesday. Jenkins said that it is really a tough situation for Ja to be injured but he assured the press that Ja will bounce back from this. He promised more updates and notified me that so far everything is good.
How Did Ja Morant Get Hurt?
Ja Morant,6 foot and 3 inches got hurt when he tried blocking the shot from Luwawu-Cabarrot, Nets forward, and landed on Timothe’s foot in a very awkward manner. Morant couldn’t put any weight on the left leg while hopping towards the sideline and collapsing on the bench. He then rolled in pain all over the floor as training staff members rushed to him. Morant’s teammates put Ja Morant in a wheelchair and he was then taken towards the locker room only to be out for the rest of the match.
In the mid-fourth quarter, the point guard returned to his bench with the protective boot covering his left foot. Jenkins said that it was an enchanting display for the point guard to be going out there. He was totally involved during the timeouts even while sitting on his bench. He thanked the whole integration of his team and with him for the victory.
