A dream team of basketball stars representing the US will head to France for the 2024 Olympics. It is projected as the greatest team of players to represent the US. Joel Embiid is among the players who will be joining the clutch of players who have said they will be available in 2024.

If all players are fit at that stage and stand by their commitment, this iteration would be as great as the Dream Team of 1992. It would be an honor for the greatest players of this generation as several of them approach their peak. Other than Joel Embiid, the other players on the list include Stephen Curry. He said that participating in the Olympics is one thing that he hasn’t done.

The players understand that this is an opportunity for the Americans to reassert themselves as the undisputed leaders in the basketball world. This is even more important after Team USA lost to Germany 113-111 in the FIBA World Cup semifinals. For the second consecutive time, the Americans came back empty-handed from the World Cup.

Joel Embiid Also Holds French Citizenship But Decided On The US

Joel Embiid will be joined among others by Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, Anthony Davis, Paul George, Jayson Tatum, Kawhi Leonard, Jaylen Brown, and Brook Lopez. Joel Embiid was born in Cameroon and still holds dual citizenship in the US and France. The 29-year-old Philadelphia 76ers star agreed to represent his adopted country after a positive meeting with Grant Hill, the managing director of the US basketball team.

Joel Embiid started the process to represent France last year. He was also selected for the 2017 Cameroonian squad. But he did not make an appearance for either team.  He has an October 10 deadline from France to decide on his participation for the European nation. But the 7-foot-tall player has finally decided to go for the country where he continues to play professionally. Joel Embiid revealed that he was excited and proud of his decision.
