Kyrsten Sinema, the Senator from the state of Arizona, carried out the typical Arizona style of debating firmly. This took place on Friday. The whole issue was with regard to voting for two important decisions concerning the economy of the country. They include the coronavirus relief package and the minimum wage bill of 15 USD.

Kyrsten Sinema Calls For An Open Debate

A video of the Democratic Senator went viral over the social media platform, Twitter. Kyrsten Sinema is seen to be making a thumbs-down vote offer on the floor of the Senate. She was not the only one to go against the amendment. She was accompanied by a left-leaning independent politician and more than five members of the Democratic party. The bill could not get passed. The total number of vote counting was 58-42.

Kyrsten Sinema took to the social media platform, Twitter, to give her explanations. She stated that she was perfectly aware of the difficulties that one has to go through in order to meet the basic necessities of life. And that too, not just for oneself, but for the entire family. She added that she is also aware of the difference “better wages” can bring about in one’s life. To prove this statement, the Democratic senator cited an example of her contributions related to the matter. She spoke of the year 2006 in which she was a leading figure in passing “an indexed minimum wage.” Kirsten Sinema further mentioned the year 2016 when she fought for an increase in the minimum wage of the state for the voter-approved.

The 44-year-old Kyrsten Sinema further stated that the members of the Senate belonging to both parties have fought for the minimum wage raise. She added that there should be an open debate organized by the Senate in addition to a process of amendment. The amendment is to be for the minimum wage raise. However, it must be separated from the relief bill of coronavirus.
