Lawmakers introduce legislation to boost American 5G efforts

A bipartisan group of lawmakers has introduced a few legislations which might try to fund the American efforts to develop 5G wireless technology. This move might be a result of the many issues concerning the telecommunication sector in China that came to light. The USA Telecommunications Act will be setting aside a sum of around $750 million which will be within the grant program of the Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). This sum will be put as a development fund for 5G development.

As per the sponsors of this Act: “The ‘USA Telecommunications Act of 2020’ will encourage more competition in the network equipment market and help lower costs for trusted equipment over the long term.”
