Barcelona continues in its efforts to bring in Ilkay Gundogan from Manchester City as the midfielder is set to move. The transfer talks are centered around a free move this summer. The 32-year-old Gundogan is set to move out of City after the final 6 months of the deal.

Barcelona is reportedly intent on bringing in Gundogan and the transfer talks have come in the final stages of his contract. The transfer talks come even as the German international remains set to depart from the Etihad in the summer. The city is looking for a replacement in Jude Bellingham of England.

The midfielder, a mainstay in City’s manager Pep Guardiola’s plan in the recent season, has only around 6 months left on his present contract with the English Premier League champion team.

The German star was the club captain last summer after Brazilian Fernandinho’s departure. He has been a regular on the pitch throughout the season and represented the team 25 times in the competitions this far for City.

Gundogan Transfer Talks Linked To Bellingham’s Move To City

Legendary midfielder and Barcelona manager Xavi has been contemplating transfer talks for midfielders whose contracts have expired or are on the verge of expiring. He has also initiated talks with France and Chelsea star N’Golo Kante. Kante, though, is expected to move to Stamford Bridge, and the transfer talks have shifted to Gundogan.

The English league champions are yet to take a final decision on the German and could still give him a new deal to retain him at City.

But they are willing to rival Real Madrid and Liverpool to retain the England midfielder Bellingham for the next season. Guardiola is eager to sign on Bellingham irrespective of whether Gundogan remains at City.

Gundugan was Guardiola’s first signing after to took over as manager of Manchester City in 2016. In 278 appearances he has scored 51 times for the club. He has brought the club 4 league titles in his 6 years at the club, an FA Cup, and 4 league cups.
