It should have been a night where Manchester United could have gained 3 points but in the end, they failed to secure even a single point. It showed the fans that there is more to be done than just signing Ronaldo.

How The Night Ended For Manchester United

Despite Ronaldo scoring a goal, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United lost 2-1 to the Young Boys. The result was due to the fact that the Red Devils played with 10 men as Aaron Wan Bissaka was needlessly sent off. The second goal for the Swiss side came from a mistake from Jesse Lingard in stoppage time.

Fans are disappointed with the result and are questioning the manager’s tactics after the player was sent off. He switched to a 5-man defense and seemed to invite pressure than fight against it.

Young Boys had attempted 19 shots compared to 2 from Manchester United. Substitute, Pefok, scored the goal with the last kick of the match.

There are 5 more games to play and Ole can perform well to back up his claim to win the UCL. The Norwegian has lost 7 games out of 11 in this competition as a United manager. This was supposed to be an easy group for the team but now it is not.

Solskjaer spoke with the media and stated that it was a lack of concentration and stupid mistakes that cost them the match. Wan- Bissaka is a brilliant tackler but it was not his day.

Jesse wanted to play it safely to the back but misplaced the pass and it ends up being a goal. He also stated that one needs to gain 10-12 pts to qualify. All that they need to do right now is to win their home games and draw in an away fixture.

Solskjaer brought in Lindelof and Donny van de Beek into the team to give them some playing time.

Manchester United had poor nights, previously in Switzerland where they lost against Basel in 2011 and 2017 and this added another.
