After being out of the UCL Mourinho says Manchester United has great chances of winning the Europa League.
After RB Leipzig defeated Manchester United 3-2 on their ground, the Red Devils couldn’t qualify for the knockout stages of the competition. Solskjaer’s men needed one point to progress through the knockout stages but three goals from Amadou Haidara, Justin Kluivert, and Angelino knocked out last year’s semi-finalists from the competition. Although Ibrahima Konate’s own goal and Bruno Fernandes’s penalty gave United hope of a comeback, they fell short after individual errors happened in the backline.
Manchester United Banking On Europa League
Manchester United dropped into the Europa League finishing third in the group H which makes them collide with EPL leaders Tottenham. Mourinho, head coach, Tottenham, who was also the coach of United from 2016 to 2018 thinks that United is the favorite to lift the second-tier competition’s trophy.
The teams which get knocked out from UCL are normally strong and don’t belong in the Europa League. Group H was a difficult group with Leipzig and PSG and one of the teams was going to struggle in that group, according to Mourinho. Mourinho has previously won the Europa League for Manchester United in 2017. He has taken Spurs this year to the group of 32. Spurs can be Group J leaders if they defeat Antwerp, however, Serge will not play after picking up a knock last weekend against Arsenal.
