Four People Develop Bell’s Palsy After Pfizer’s Vaccine Administration

The U.K. started administering its citizens with the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. According to the reports by U.S. regulators, four people getting Pfizer’s vaccine developed a condition of Bell’s palsy which is facial temporary paralysis.

The FDA regulators couldn’t observe a clear way by which this vaccine caused this condition but warned doctors to look out for alarming side effects and Pfizer must keep track of the number of people getting affected by it.

Bell’s palsy is a condition that results in temporary paralysis or weakness of facial muscles. The condition usually occurs when the nerve controlling the muscles gets inflamed, compressed, or swollen. Meanwhile, Albert Bourla, chief executive of, Pfizer stated that Pfizer didn’t ignore anything while distributing and administering the vaccines.

Bourla asserted that their vaccine has been tested according to higher standards than how they do these things. He reiterated that their vaccine was being tested in the same way as any other vaccines being out there. Pfizer vaccine comes at a time when pandemic related deaths are climbing steadily with over 65M cases and 1.5 casualties. Pfizer CEO stated that people are always skeptical of vaccines which is very wrong.

However, U.S. regulators confirmed on Tuesday that Pfizer’s vaccine is very effective against COVID-19 and it is also safe to use. They offered the first detailed glimpse of the world at the data behind the vaccine shots. The FDA gave a positive review to the vaccine which allows for the decision to administer the vaccine initially within a few days.

FDA regulators started their analysis of the vaccine data online. While on the other side of the Atlantic, the U.K. started vaccinating their oldest people with the vaccine shots. These shots were co-developed by Pfizer with BioNTech.
