Though the decision of Mitch McConnell did not surprise people much, Ketanji will win without his vote. He recently posted on Twitter that his decision was based on nonpartisan, though the majority of the people believe that he is just biased. In his post on 24th March, he said that he went to the consideration of the Senate for the nomination of Jackson with a broad mind. However, after evaluating and analyzing her performance for the entire week and her past record, he will never be convinced enough to vote for her.
Ketanji faced a series of questions regarding her practices of sentencing and her previous record on the three back-to-back hearing days. Sen. Ted Cruz, the Republican of Texas, grilled Ketanji on her theory of race which she cleverly displayed that does not have any relation to what she does as a judge. He even showed her a book about children and asked whether children can be racist or not. She was appreciated by many people including Cory Booker for her grace and resilience during the entire questioning round.
The judge even had tears in his eyes after hearing her entire journey and stated that she has definitely earned respect and this position as she is worthy and an amazing American citizen. Mitch McConnell, however, declared his decision to not vote for her due to all her diplomatic answers regarding the increase of seats on the bench.
