Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace Warns Party Could Bleed If They Do Not Tone Down Extreme Stance On Abortion

Republican leaders have warned that the party’s uncompromising stance, especially its activist base, could push them over the electoral precipice in 2024. The warning has been spearheaded among others by Congresswoman Nancy Mace of South Carolina.

Nancy Mace has repeatedly warned that the GOP should show more compassion and be reasonable. She warned that if the party continues to go down the extremist path on the issue of abortion, they would keep staring at defeat leading up to the Presidential elections.

Nancy Mace has time and again appealed for a change instance by the Republican Party. She said that there was a need for more flexibility on abortions in its first term. She also backed the need for exceptions for incest, rape, and during those instances where it threatens the life or health of mothers.

Nancy Mace Has Also Spoken Out About Other Issues Hurting The GOP

Nancy Mace is not the sole Republican leader to take a stance divergent from the GOP’s official stance.  Right-wing radio host, Dan O’Donnell of Wisconsin has mentioned the GOP loss in the Supreme Court polls in his state. He maintained that young voters were being driven to vote in stunning numbers, and the party had to compromise on the abortion issue if it were to survive.

There is also the Republican stand on gun control. Nancy Mace mentioned that some of the kids running in panic in the Isle of Palms shooting in South Carolina were friends of her kids. She said that there had been vague or little response from her party. She stressed that the GOP was showing little concern or compassion despite the spate of mass shootings.

Another area in which the Republican Party’s stance was hurting was the stand against any form of legislation to fight climate change. And the efforts to roll back the rights of the LGBTQ community have further alienated a large section of teenagers.
