Nelson Cruz was traded by Minnesota Twins to Tampa Bay with Joe Ryan and Drew Strotman moving in the opposite direction. The Twins received two pitchers who are right-handed for this specific deal.

Joe Ryan has been excellent this current season and is traveling to Tokyo with the National team. He has played for 57 innings and hails a Strikeout to walk ratio of 75/10. He was representing the Durham Bulls this season and posted an ERA of 3.63.

Drew Strotman was also with the AAA Durham and has a Strikeout to walk ratio of 62/33 in just 12 starts. Strotman boasts of an ERA of 3.39 and a WHIP of 1.43. These two players might be ready for the big leagues now.

How Nelson Cruz Is Faring This Season

Nelson Cruz is currently 41 years of age scoring 19 homers this current season. He was signed for another year for a price of $13 million by the Twins. The Twins are currently out of the playoffs and played in a poor season. They have a record of 41-55 currently and sit at fourth place. Nelson Cruz will be entering the free agents’ column as the year ends, so getting some money in a trade is quite clever.

Nelson Cruz was strategically traded to an N-American Team, even though he was batting at .294/.370/.537. The Rays have a record of 57-39 and are one game short of the leader Red Sox. The AL division in the East has been quite competitive this MLB season. Even if the Rays fail to win the East they might have a chance to win the spot on the wild card.
