Nikki Haley, a presidential candidate from the Republican party, recently took potshots at her party before key GOP donors in an address that took place on Saturday.
She accused the GOP of enabling what she believes was excessive government spending- which formed a major part of her speech- as was obtained by CNN. The event was organized at a private retreat in Palm Beach, Florida, by the anti-tax group called Club For Growth.
At this event, Haley also took a shot at Donald Trump, who had not been invited to this event, and was considered to headline another event outside Washington DC, called the Conservative Political Action Conference. In her speech, Haley slyly mentioned that there was one Republican candidate who had not been invited to the event, but she was quite appreciative that she was the candidate who was invited.
Nikki Haley Took Potshots At Donald Trump at Club for Growth
Interestingly, Nikki Haley’s words did hit the nail on the head, for Trump was the only major hopeful for the 2024 Presidential election who had not been invited to this Club for Growth event. Ron DeSantis, the Governor of Florida, who seems to be moving towards initiating his bid for Presidency, also spoke at this retreat on Thursday. Haley also spoke at both the Club for Growth, as well as the CPAC, which did feature quite a few allies of Trump, and several family members. After Haley finished her speech at CPAC on Friday, she was constantly heckled by several supporters of Trump, who went on to chant ‘We Love Trump!’
Although Nikki Haley’s speech in Florida didn’t bring up a name, the candidate did call out the Republican party GOP who had voted to keep this gateway drug of wasteful spending through earmarks.
