A vaccine expert, Dr. Rick Bright, was dismissed from his position and relegated to a narrower role at the National Institutes of Health. He is the director of the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority. According to Bright, this move to relegate him must have come after he had opposed the import of high amounts of hydroxychloroquine, which has not been proven under scientific grounds to have any positive effect on COVID-19 patients.
However, internal officials mention that Bright actually supported the acquisition of the large amounts of hydroxychloroquine and his email called it a win for the health department. He was even one of the people who pushed for the acquisition of this drug.
