Rodrigo Duterte, the President of the Philippines, gave a statement on his future plans with regard to the domain of politics. It was stated that he was taking retirement next year. What this indicates is the fact that he will not be appointed as the vice-president of the country in the election that will be held in the year 2022. With this news, the Philippine President further added fuel to the fire to the news of Sara Dutertem his daughter, taking over his position.

Rodrigo Duterte’s Confirmation

There are speculations throughout the country that Sara Duterte, the daughter of Rodrigo Duterte, the President of the Philippines, will start running for office very soon. Previously, the 76-year-old President had accepted his party’s nomination. Accordingly, he was to participate in the elections that were to take place in the month of May 2022. And this was one of the controversial political plans as it would have led President Rodrigo Duterte to retain his seat even after his official term of office got over. And that is a period of six years.

However, sources confirmed that this was not a decision that would make the general people of the country happy. According to a poll carried out on the subject, it was found out that the people of the country did not approve of the idea. And the same was stated by the critics as well. They claimed that in case Rodrigo Duterte retained his office even after his term got over, it would mean that the Constitution of the country was being violated. The President gave a statement on the 2nd of October, that fell on Saturday. It was stated that he was taking a step back from his decision as people were not happy about it.
