The royal couple welcomed their second child on Friday. The Duchess of Sussex gave birth to a baby girl on the 4th of June at around 11.40 am. The baby was born at the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara and weighed about 7 lbs 11oz. According to the statement issued by the Duke and the Duchess of Sussex both the baby and mother are healthy. The statement from the royal couple also shed light on the name of the newest family member of the royals. The baby was named Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten Windsor.

Lilibet is named following the nickname of her great grandmother. The baby’s middle name ‘Diana’ is after her grandmother and Prince Harry’s late mother Princess Diana. The couple also has a son Archie Harrison Mountbatten Windsor who is 2 years old. The couple in their statement thanked everyone for their love, support, and warm wishes. Harry and Meghan also shared a personal note on their Archewell website regarding the same.

Initially, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle confirmed their second pregnancy on the eve of Valentines’s Day. It was later in The Oprah Winfrey Show that the couple announced the arrival of a girl in their family. In the show, Meghan and Harry also shared with the world that they do not intend to have children anymore. 

The ecstatic news was shared by Meghan Markle after she went through a miscarriage. Meghan Markle shared her experience of the miscarriage in a heart-wrenching essay on the 25th of November with the New York Times. Last year Meghan Markle and Prince Harry officially quit their part as the senior royals. Their wish and will to live their life as a normal everyday family played an important part in their decision.
