Former mayor of New York, Rudy Giuliani, has been summoned by prosecutors about payments the celebrity lawyer received from former president Trump. He is alleged to have amplified Trump’s absurd claims of widespread fraud during the presidential elections in 2020. The November subpoena has also asked Rudy Giuliani to make available testimony, according to an insider who spoke on condition of anonymity. The complete nature of this inquiry remains fully under wraps.

The inquiry is being led by the US AG and began before Jack Smith, special counsel, was selected to oversee the Trump investigations. Giuliani served as the personal attorney to the former president. He has declined requests for comment. A US attorney spokesperson in the Dist. of Columbia has also not responded to the development.

Sources say the subpoena has sought the retainer agreement between Giuliani and Trump, if any, or between Giuliani and the former president’s campaign. The inquiry is also into the payment records between the two.

Wild Allegations By Rudy Giuliani Could Lead To The Former NYC Mayor Losing His Law License

An attorney ethics committee of the Dist. of Columbia said in December that Rudy Giuliani had violated the ethics rule when Trump challenged the results of the presidential elections. Rudy Giuliani lost his New York law license in June 2021. It came following findings by an appeals court that he made a fabricated and misleading statement about widespread voting fraud. This undermined the presidential election that was won by Joe Biden, the Democratic candidate.

Rudy Giuliani also faces the fallout of these misleading claims. An investigation from the bar association of the Dist. of Columbia will determine a violation of professional conduct in filing the suits. This could eventually lead to Giuliani losing his law license.

Rudy Giuliani had made wild allegations, including that the voting machines were rigged. He also said that Georgia had brought in suitcases filled with ballots. Representatives for Rudy Giuliani have declined to comment on the issue.
