PSG is back after having a poor Matchday 1. Lionel Messi scored his first goal for PSG and his club got their first victory in the UCL group stage on Tuesday, when they beat Manchester City 2-0.
How PSG Came Back After A Poor Start
PSG had a poor opening game against Club Brugge when they drew 1-1 with them. Messi was yet to score or assist for the Paris side and it seemed like a matter of time before they got their form back and Messi got off the mark.
Idrissa Gueye grabbed a beautiful opportunity to score in 8 minutes when the club was in a comfortable position. The Paris side was dominating in the first half but it looked like they might squander it. It was a miracle that the first goal separated the 2 sides while Manchester City seemed destined to score.
The second half saw City get into the game and threaten the opposition goal. Gianluigi Donnarumma stepped up with incredible saves from difficult angles.
An equalizer was expected from the Manchester side when Messi got space on the right and combined with Kylian Mbappe. He finished the ball, without settling it, into the upper right corner and baffled fans all over the world.
PSG was quite clinical and it was a well-deserved result. The Paris side was out-shot and out-possessed by the blue side but they managed to contain the City attackers. Luck favored when they needed it and they also got an act of revenge for last season.
PSG has moved into the top spot in Group A while City is third.
