Real Madrid Lost To Sheriff, 2-1, On Home Soil

Real Madrid

Real Madrid faced their first defeat of the season on Tuesday. They lost 2-1 against Sheriff Tiraspol in the UCL at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Ancelotti’s men had lacked finishing up front and failed to beat the opposition goalkeeper, Giorgos Athanasiadis. He produced several incredible saves to lead Sheriff to a win.

Things To Take Away From The Real Madrid Loss

Real Madrid fans might be alarmed at such a result but there were positive things to take away from the game.

David Alaba showed his class as a world-class player, Camavinga kept on shining, Kroos returned to the field, Vinicius Jr feels like a constant threat for defenses, and Benzema, as usual, scored again.

Alaba is extremely good and it feels like Real Madrid is wasting his talent by playing him at the back. The defender does everything well as he intercepts, defends, and even leads the team from the back. His signing was a bargain for Real Madrid.

Los Blancos demand more from Hazard but his performances have not been poor, recently. He has started to recover his form and brings something special to the table which is matched by Benzema.

The team returned to Bernabeu for the first time in 17 months and the fans were excited. They provided the extra push needed by the team but failed to turn the game around.

Benzema scored the 72nd goal in UCL and overtook Raul to become the 4th top scorer in the history of the competition. If he keeps scoring he can end up taking the second spot after Cristiano Ronaldo.

They only had 2 defenders on the pitch. Only Alaba and Eder Militao were on the field for the final minutes, as Real Madrid attacked in waves in search of an equalizer.
