A member of the immensely popular country band, The Statler Brother, Harold Reid passed away at the age of 80. His family revealed his long fight with kidney failure that ultimately led to his death on Friday.
The Statler Brothers became famous by opening for Johnny Cash back in 1964, with a super big crossover hit ‘Flowers on the Wall’ the following year. Reid was the bass singer and comic of the beloved country group.
The group was also known for more hits including “Bed of Roses” and “The Class of 57,” which won them a Grammy.
“He is and will always be loved by his family, friends, and millions of fans. His singing, his songwriting, and his comedy made generations happy. He has taken a piece of our hearts with him,” read the official statement.
