In the series, Rebecca is in a very delicate situation. She is aware of her situation and knows that things are only gonna get worse. It is a turbulent stage with mixed emotions. The feelings of loss and helplessness can get overwhelming, said Kay Oyegun.
They wanted to get the situation as accurate as they could, so they called in many experts. They even went to doctors who specialize in Alzheimer’s to give them details about the progression of the devastating disease. They know what they want for Rebecca. They know how and when she will die. There will be a long period before the end so they wanted to capture her deterioration in a way that has never been done before.
This Is Us director, Kay Oyegun, praised Mandy Moore for doing her research and dedicating a lot of time to get into Rebecca’s shoes. He said that directors need to be patient with Moore so that she can embody the character perfectly.
This is Us Season 6 will be the last and the directors have promised loads of tear-jerking moments and heartbreaks for audiences.
