15 Years Later, Zooey Deschanel and Will Ferrell Perform Famous Shower Duet from ‘Elf’

On Sunday, December 13 with the pair of Buddy and his lady-love, Jovie was revived via a live-streamed table read. This was done in order to raise funds for Georgia Liberals before the Senate vote in January of 2021. Will Ferrell and Zooey Deschanel recreated one of the most unforgettable scenes: “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”.

Deschanel through her Instagram shared a reel of her former co stars humming to the famous tune.

Bob Newhart, Ed Asner, Amy Sedaris, Kyle Gass, Matt Walsh, Mary Steenburgen, among many others from the original cast of ‘Elf’ also participated.

Due to Covid-19, the cast couldn’t be together. However, they did manage to spread Christmas cheer to their viewers watching from their homes. The iconic shower duet became a quick favorite since the release of the movie all those years ago.

Walking Down Memory Lane With ‘New Girl’ Zooey Deschanel 

Zooey Deschanel recounted Dir. Favreau telling her that they would be creating Jovie’s role according to who would play it. She went on to reveal that the shower duet was made a part of the script once she came on board. Deschanel at the time with a cabaret show under her belt was performing frequently. Her being a singer was utilized by the team to be her special talent that Buddy would go on to discover.

New Girl fame’s Zooey Deschanel’s identity as a talented singer is not hidden. However, she was surprised to see that Will Ferrell could sustain too.

Deschanel told Entertainment Weekly that Ferrell had claimed he wasn’t a singer, hence she wasn’t too hopeful. The She & Him vocalist also went on to say that Ferrell’s father is a talented musician. She concluded by saying that she should’ve known he would secretly be great.
