AMAs 2022: For the American Music Awards (AMA) it was a stellar year.

Live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, the 50th Academy Awards ceremony of AMAs 2022 was broadcast, with host Wayne Brady dressed outrageously.

The 2022 American Music Awards (AMA)  awarded Taylor Swift Artist of the Year.

AMAs 2022 Saw Some Memorable Performances Of All Times

Taylor Swift acknowledged the support of her ardent Swifties after winning the coveted Artist of the Year award. Swift, who recently ended a bitter spat with Ticketmaster and had problems with her upcoming “Eras Tour,” said, “I realized that the more music I did, the more music I put out, the happier I was.”

Essentially, she said, “I owe my happiness to my fans.”

Beyoncé, Drake, and Taylor Swift each received six nominations, while Bad Bunny received eight nominations, leading the field. Five nominations were given to each Adele, Harry Styles, and The Weeknd.

Pink’s new song, “Never Gonna Not Dance Again,” served as the opening number for the AMAs.

In a musical homage to Lionel Richie, who will receive the 2022 AMAs Icon Award, Stevie Wonder and Charlie Puth got the audience “Dancing on the Ceiling”—or at the very least, swaying in their chairs and standing in unison.

A combination of Richie and Commodores singles, including “Jesus Is Love,” “Brick House,” “All Night Long,” “Say You, Say Me,” and, of course, the anthem “We Are the World,” was performed by the duo while playing dueling pianos.

During the AMAs 2022 on Sunday night, Lionel Richie was presented with the Icon Award.

The 73-year-old Lionel Richie, a Commodores legend, received the award for his “unparalleled ability to flawlessly blend a variety of music, from pop to country,” the AMA stated when they announced the distinction earlier this month. More than 125 million records have been sold worldwide by Oscar, Grammy, and Golden Globe winners.
