Arsenal Exits FA Cup With All Eyes Now Solely On PL Title

Mikel Arteta did not waste time before expressing his disappointment after seeing his Arsenal squad lose to Manchester City in the FA Cup on Friday, but he might not feel that way for long.

The PL Remains The Primary Target For Arsenal And Arteta

Although no coach wants to taste defeat in a game, Arteta and Arsenal’s 1-0 loss is unquestionably not a thing to get hung over about. Absolutely not. The Premier League title is the first objective with a five-point lead over the competition. At City’s Etihad Stadium, Arteta rested important players, and since Arsenal won’t be playing in the FA Cup this season, their schedule between now till May—which still includes Europa League competition—will be a bit less frantic.

Arteta was at a loss for words, but his choice of team members made clear any lingering questions about his objectives. Only six of them who started during the team’s 3-2 league victory against Manchester United last weekend — Oleksandr Zinchenko, William Saliba, Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard, Ben White, and Aaron Ramsdale, — were listed on the substitutes’ list at the Etihad Stadium. When the league resumes with a game against Everton the following Saturday, they will all be there.

At the very least, though, the fact that, for Arteta, an FA Cup match can be viewed as a luxury speaks tons about Arsenal’s development under Arteta. Since they previously won the championship 19 years ago, the cup has provided much-needed motivation.

The initial season objective was to make the Champions League, but after widening the gap to 1st place at the midway point, there is now a sense that this streak is too wonderful a chance to miss. The Arsenal supporters appeared to agree, as they continued to sing the name of Arteta at the conclusion despite traveling a considerable distance from London to see a significantly altered team lose.
