THE AP: DENVER The star pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, Bryce Harper, has been dismissed from last week’s 4-0 lack to the Colorado Rockies after calling out their dugout after the final seventh inning. The incident resulted in the removal of both bullpens and benches from both teams. Jake Bird, a Colorado reliever, clapped his gloves while speaking to the Philadelphia bench before Harper appeared to respond.
Bryce Harper admitted that he felt things and kept getting super hyped up for certain innings but it was about whether one can be a good team player or just make the match about him and the opposite team. Adding that he had an issue with things when one made it about himself.
Bryce Harper And Jake Bird Opened Up About Their Feelings Towards The Problematic Situation
Initially resisted by Elias Daz, catcher of team Rockies, Bryce Harper was then prevented from entering where the players stood and coaches stood near the line of the first base by Phillies third base coach Dusty Wathan.
After that, Harper says that he went out to simply leave and had J.T. straight behind him. The same applies to Taijuan Walker, he added, saying that he was grateful to his teammates for supporting him by walking out there with him. He also said that the situation was urgent and when their team arrived, Bird had flown towards the dugout and nobody noticed him. Rob Thomson, the manager of the Phillies said that such an incident should never have happened.
On May 2, Bryce Harper rejoined the NL winner Phillies after undergoing Tommy John operations. Jake Bird had also been thrown out. In a statement published, he admitted that he did get vulnerable on the ground at times. He further noted that his remarks regarding the dugout were not intended for anyone specific. It had been a solid group and a crucial time, amid which he experienced something which the other time found offensive.
