Conservative commentator and author Candace Owens were not provided with medical care due to her political beliefs. It was reported by Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson that the commentator was denied a coronavirus test by a laboratory in Colorado.
It has also been reported that Owens was sent a letter from Suzanna Lee, the co-founder of Aspen Laboratories, where she was made aware that her booking was canceled and that she would not be given service due to her aversion to facemask mandates set by the government as well as her doubt regarding the effectiveness of the vaccination shots.
Candace Owens Discriminated For Her Political Beliefs?
Lee’s letter was obtained by Tucker Carlson Tonight, where the co-founder had written that the laboratories would not be supporting anyone who had actively worked towards making the pandemic worse by spreading misinformation, discouraging the usage of masks, lobbying, and actively preventing people from receiving vaccinations that would definitely save lives.
Carlson went on to note that while it was not unusual for American citizens of different political beliefs to be denied services in one form or the other, this was the very first instance when an American citizen was being denied medical treatment for the same.
Candace Owens, on her part, has maintained that she didn’t really want to be tested for COVID- rather, she had to because of sudden governmental restrictions on bodily autonomy. This entailed that she had to get routine tests done to engage in her day-to-day life.
In her interview, she mentioned that the only way to ensure that she had some control over her body would involve her getting COVID tested. She also questioned several positions of the government where one had to get a negative COVID test to be a part of any event, or if they wanted to leave the country.
While Tucker Carlson questioned the legality of Aspen’s denial, Candace Owens has stated that it isn’t about health anymore- but about politics.
