Carl Lawson, the defensive end of N.Y. Jets, and who also happens to be the biggest signed free agent to the team will be missing the season because of his ruptured Achilles tendon during practice on Thursday.
The injury to Carl Lawson came during a period of red zone while being in a session of joint practice between Green Bay Packers and the Jets at the facility owned by the Packers. Multiple players took to their knees and everyone was very quiet as the medical staff attended Carl Lawson’s injury.
Other injuries also occurred in the game as Zane Lewis suffered an injury that can end this season for him. According to the Jets, he has a torn patella tendons and a sprained MCL. While Sheldon Rankins suffered an injury to his knee and Denzel Mims injured his hip, they are minor and would not take much longer to recover, unlike Carl Lawson.
The injury to Lawson is potentially expected to cause a significant effect on the Jets since the team was counting on the athlete to be the primary threat from their front. During the training practices, Lawson had shown significant improvement and was a dominant force in the field.
Carl Lawson And His Major Injuries
Carl Lawson was signed on a $45 million contract for a term of three years back in March. Prior to the transfer, he was a part of the Cincinnati Bengals for four seasons.
Carl Lawson is no stranger to injuries and has been dealing with particularly major ones for a long time. In 2014 at Auburn, Lawson suffered an injury tearing his left Anterior Cruciate Ligament and in 2018, he suffered the same injury to his right 2018 when he was playing for the Bengals.
However, Robert Saleh, the head coach, has the experience of managing a team that has multiple injuries and is expected to take care of the team nevertheless.
