Chelsea Stopped Borussia Dortmund’s Four Month Long Unbeaten Streak

Chelsea

Chelsea finally got a win to enter the quarter finals of the Champion’s League and probably have saved their manager from sacking for now. Since the start of the stint of Graham Potter in the Blues, they haven’t performed very good in the league or in any other matches for that matter. However, this win against the german club in the Champions League will probably help Potter with another lifeline as the Chelsea coach.

Broussia Dortmund were in a four months unbeaten run before they arrive at the Bridge for their CL fixture. In the match, Dortmund looked helpless and now need to overturn this two-nil defeat in their home match in Germany. Blues’ Raheem Sterling scored the first goal and then Kai Havertz scored another to secure their 2-1 aggregate win against the German club.

The Blues got a spot-kick because of a handball by Marius Wolf in the box and Havertz delivered in is second attempt. Also, great news for Chelsea is Christian Pulisic is back again in the squad after his short appearance back in 5th January. Chelsea’s win this season will take them to the last eight in pursuit of the most prestigious trophy for European football clubs for two consecutive seasons.

Chelsea Won Against Borussia Dortmund:

Even though Chelsea won their last match against Leeds United, Graham Potter was still under immense pressure from the board. Now that he has won the CL tie and the Blues are now through to the last eight of the Champions League, Potter may have another lifeline.

Potter has been more animated in today’s match trying to hype the home crowd up. The most telling moment of the match remains the second attempt of that Havertz penalty. Chelsea coach sat in his chair and could not watch the shot by Havertz. However, Kai secured the win and the Bridge erupted.
