Cristiano Ronaldo Has Played 200 International Games

At Portugal’s European Championship, Cristiano Ronaldo became the primary male soccer player who played 200 international soccer matches when Portugal won over Iceland. Ronaldo, who is the skipper of the team, gave Portugal the sole goal of the match at the Reykjavik Laugardalsvollur Stadium. The result of the match was 1-0 and Portugal won the match over Iceland.

Ronaldo expressed his pleasure about his attainment and said that it is significant to reach that milestone with a winning goal. At first, the match referee canceled the goal calling it an offside goal. But at the VAR replay, it was seen that Ronaldo was onside to a certain extent.

And after a couple of minutes, the goal was granted. With this goal, Ronaldo reached the 123 goals which he netted for Portugal. This goal took Ronaldo to the position of the top goal scorer in the world till now. Cristiano Ronaldo crossed the record of playing a maximum number of matches which was previously grasped by Bader Al-Mutawa of Kuwait at the match where Portugal won over Liechtenstein in the qualifying match for the European Cup of 2024.

Cristiano Ronaldo was presented with a Guinness World Record plaque to celebrate his world record as the first man to play 200 world matches before the beginning of the match against Iceland. Before the match, Ronaldo said playing 200 world matches denotes his respect for his nation. He said he never imagined reaching the number. Ronaldo is the winner of the Ballon d’Or award five times. Ronaldo is also the holder of two important titles with Portugal which are, his 2016 Euro success and again 3 years later at the UEFA Nations League inaugural.
