Eliot Page Opens Up About Trans Struggles

Eliot opened up about his gender identity in December 2020 in a heartfelt letter posted to Instagram. In the interview when he disclosed his identity, he also mentioned how it was difficult for him to talk about the days that led up to it. After he gets into his comfort zone, he mentions, “I’m really excited to act, now that I’m in this body.” In his Instagram coming-out post, he also clarified for his fans that he might be addressed using the pronouns ‘he’ or ‘they,’ so that there was no scope of ambiguity.

He further went on to say that although he expected a lot of support and love from his audience, he also knew that his decision to come out now will also be met with a lot of hatred and resistance. Eliot Page mentioned that he was ready to embrace the mixed reaction and that was what happened in reality as well.

The Juno star, Page, discussed his childhood in his interview with Time. He talked about how he “felt like a boy” from a very young age and had a “feeling of triumph” when he was allowed to cut his hair short at the age of 9.

Eliot Page’s cover photo was shot by Wynne Neill, a trans photographer who later posted the image with the caption “dream assignment.”
