Folarin Balogun Chooses To Play For USMNT Soccer

The men’s team of the United States for soccer received the commitment of a prolific player with multiple nationalities on May 16th – Folarin Balogun. The up-and-coming player, who is now 21, committed to representing the United States in future soccer events, as announced by the program.

A Choice For The Family Of Folarin Balogun

While talking to the website of the Federation for U.S. Soccer, Folarin Balogun said that his decision to play for the US was taken with the help of his family. He explains, that he had no doubts or questions at the end. For him, it is something he wants to do as he feels he is most at home in the US.

For Folarin Balogun, being a US representative carries great meaning, more than he thinks people may know. He expressed his pride and honor at being given the chance to do so, and he promises to dedicate his all to making the national team successful.

Folarin Balogun’s parents are Nigerian, however, his birth took place in New York’s Brooklyn. He grew up in London. His footballing career began at Arsenal, one of the powerhouse soccer clubs of England’s, youth academy. His professional career also began with Arsenal, appearing 10 times for the club between 2020 and 2022.

For the majority of Balogun’s tenure at Arsenal, though, the player featured in the under-21 squad – the same place he had been playing before becoming professional. As an under-21 player, he scored 37 goals and assisted 10 times while playing 49 matches between 2019 and 2022.

This garnered Folarin Balogun the attention of the media from the other side of the Atlantic. He received even more focus when he had a successful loan stint at Middlesbrough, a team in the second division of English football, during 2022’s latter half.
