Gina Raimondo impressed the President-elect Joe Biden’s team when Gina was considered as the running mate of Joe Biden. President-elect Biden has selected Gina Raimondo, Governor of Rhode Island for serving in the post of Commerce secretary, according to 2 people. Biden has tapped Don Graves, longtime aide to serve in the post of deputy to the Commerce secretary and Isabel Guzman, California official for leading the administration of small businesses.

Gina Raimondo, who previously impressed Biden’s team when Gina was considered as the running mate of Biden was also contending for running the Department of Treasury and the Human and Health Services Department. In early December, Gina Raimondo removed her name for consideration as HSS secretary after people told her that she has gotten this job. She said that she always remains focused on the state of Rhode Island.

Who Is Gina Raimondo?

Formerly Raimondo was a venture capitalist working at the Bain Capital-backed fund. She started her venture firm inside Rhode Island. She used to work in Rhode Island before getting elected as the state’s general treasurer in 2011. In 2014, Raimondo got elected as Rhode Island’s governor and she served as the leader of the association of Democratic-Governors in 2019. In the presidential primary, Gina supported Michael Bloomberg, former Mayor of New York, where she served as the nation’s co-chair of the ill-fated but well-funded campaign.

Don Graves used to work as the head of community relations and corporate responsibility in the Keybank based in Cleveland. Previously, he served in the vice president’s office of Biden and the Department of Treasury. She also used to run Biden’s initiative of Cancer Moonshot. Currently, Graves is leading the review team for the Treasury Agency. Guzman served as the staff’s deputy chief in the administration of Obama SBA.
