Joe Biden’s son has defied a GOP subpoena to appear before a House panel. Hunter Biden has termed ‘shameless’ the probe initiated by the Republicans against his father. He has refused to appear or testify at the meeting with GOP lawmakers. He was to make an appearance for a private testimony.

Hunter Biden reiterated Wednesday morning that he would not appear before a private panel. The turn of events comes even as the House, which passed control into Republican hands after the midterms in November 2022, prepared a vote to formalize an impeachment investigation into President Biden on Wednesday.

The Republicans maintain that Hunter Biden’s father knew and benefitted from, illegal business deals on Hunter’s behalf. Hunter was to testify at a private hearing on Wednesday, but following a brief interaction close to the Capitol, the president’s son drove away without further clarifications.

Hunter Biden admitted that he had been irresponsible when he was in the throes of addiction. But he termed shameless and absurd the suggestion that his addiction could be a ground for an impeachment.

Republicans Have Yet To Produce A Shred Of Evidence Against Hunter Biden Or His Father

Hunter further said that there was no evidence to back the allegations against him, or that his father knew about his business or was involved financially in any way. He categorically stated that none of the allegations were true.

The Republican camp has threatened contempt proceedings against Hunter Biden. James Comer, among the Republican representatives who are part of the private impeachment, said that they would initiate proceedings against Hunter Biden for contempt of Congress.

Comer defended the Republican decision not to go for a public hearing and termed it a standard investigative procedure employed by representatives. The GOP has been pursuing a long-drawn investigation against Joe Biden but is yet to come up with a shred of indication of misconduct against the US President.
