Jessica Pegula’s victory over Elina Svitolina has ensured that the 26-year-old from America would be putting her spot as one of the quarter-finalists in the Australian Open. Jessica Pegula, whose parents are the owners of both Sabre franchises, and the Buffalo Bulls, defeated the Ukrainian in three sets at the Rod Laver Arena. The final score read 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in favor of the American. In the quarterfinal, she would be pitted against a compatriot- Jennifer Brady.

Jessica Pegula, The Sabre Heiress, Is On A Major Dream Run

After her famous victory over a top-10 seeded player, Jessica Pegula walked towards the camera to invite her parents over for the next round. This was also a message to Jennifer Brady- her friend, and current rival whose match was just after Pegula’s. As it stands, the friends would be going against each other in the Round of Eight. Hilariously, after Brady won her match she walked up to the camera and threw a friendly challenge at Pegula.

Jessica Pegula mentioned that this was quite a good opportunity for both the Americans who have been close friends for quite some time now. Both Brady and Pegula have been teammates for doubles in the Billie Jean King Cup, and while Pegula is simply happy to be where she is- she knows Brady is the top American player.

The Sabre heiress is on a dream run currently. After defeating Victoria Azarenka and Samantha Stosur- she is a major contender in this tournament with three wins in her professional career. What is quite interesting here is that Jessica Pegula has been working with David Witt- the erstwhile coach of Venus Williams since she suffered a 0-6 loss against top-ranked women players.
