On Sunday, Julio Jones, one of the Atlanta Falcons’ best wide receivers, was traded to the Tennessee Titans. This brought an end to months of speculation over where the player was headed in this transfer season.
The Deal For Julio Jones
For Julio Jones, Tennessee has agreed to give their second-round pick in the 2022 draft and the fourth-round pick in the 2023 draft to the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons meanwhile, will be sending their sixth-round 2023 draft pick the way of the Titans along with Julio Jones. The Titans confirmed that only a medical remains for the deal to be completed.
On Sunday, Jon Robinson, the general manager of the Titans, said that it was an exciting chance to get Julio Jones for his team. He said that Julio is excited as well to take part in the current plans in Nashville.
Robinson explained that talks had heated up on Saturday. Terms were finally agreed on Sunday. Robinson added that Tennessee also has to do some work to accommodate Julio Jones’ contract. However, he said that they would likely try to give new contracts and not let go of anyone to do that.
A. J. Brown and Derrick Henry, players currently with the Titans, posted on their social media accounts about being interested in playing with Julio Jones. Near the end of May, Brown had made a video on TikTok to convince Jones to come to the Titans.
The trade rumors surrounding Jones have been raging for the last two months as the Falcons are trying to fix their situation regarding salary caps. On 24th May, Julio had said that he was “outta here” in an interview on FS1. 32-year-old Jones was the leader in catches for the Falcons with 848. He was also number 1 in yards covered with 12,896.
