Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio have been fast friends since they were cast on ‘Titanic’ as the lead pair. Their friendship has remained strong for 24 years now. They were unable to meet due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the stringent measures and restrictions in place.

Kate Winslet, in a piece for The Guardian, admitted that she was reduced to tears when she met Leonardo DiCaprio after 3 years. The British actress said that she was unable to stop weeping after seeing him.
Winslet said that she’s known him for more than half her life. She added that she was unable to fly to New York and neither was he able to come to London. The travel restrictions imposed due to the pandemic made it harder for people to meet globally. When they finally met, it was definitely a special moment for the old friends.
She further said that he is a really close friend and that they share a bond for life. They first met on the set of ‘Titanic’ in 1997. The movie was a massive hit and the tale of ill-fated lovers was etched in cinema history as a classic. Winslet fondly remembered that she had turned 21 during the shooting of the movie and Leonardo had turned 22.
The two shared the big screen again in ‘Revolutionary Road’ which was a 2008 drama. However, they’ll be best remembered for the beautiful and heart-touching portrayal of the star-crossed lovers aboard the Titanic.
